Sir Charles Petrie, one of the founders of the club and Lord Mayor of Liverpool.
The Rt. Hon. Frederick Arthur Stanley & Rt. Hon Edward John Stanley, the 16th & 18th Earls of Derby, served as President between 1898–1908 and
1948–1954, respectively.
Messrs. T.L. Davies and H.J. Chisholm (founders and driving forces of the club in the early years), ‘Old TL’ served as Honorary Secretary for 18 years.
Mr. Chisholm went on to be Captain in 1898 & 1899 and later was elected to Life membership.
Mr. Michael Montgomery, Captain from 1927 to 1931, who was instrumental in acquiring the club's ownership of the golf course.
Mr. John W. Clare served as Captain throughout the 2nd World War when the club was commandeered by the War Office as ‘F’ site, Mersey Gun Defence
Area. A time when large silver barrage balloons floated over the course and the resident artillery attempted to shoot down raiding German bombers.
Mr Clare served on council and, over the years, held every office i.e. Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer, Captain and, eventually, President in 1965.
Another, more recent, great servant of the club is Mr. Geoffrey Low, who served for many years as Club Hon. Treasurer, so well in fact, that he was elected
to Honorary Life membership in 1976, made President in 1986 and Captain in Centenary year 1996. The list of great servants to the club is far too long to
mention here, but the official club history, kindly produced in the centenary year by Mrs. Moya Jones, is more enlightening.
